Atlantic Festival

Every Saturday in June, Funchal's seafront is lit up by some of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Europe. The Atlantic Festival is an international pyrotechnics competition — teams from different countries compete with synchronised shows set to music over the bay. Watching from the seafront promenade is free and magical, but the best views are from the water. A sunset boat tour that stays out for the fireworks is one of the most memorable experiences you can have in Madeira.
